Labour Market Information

Labour Market Information (LMI) describes the world of work including:

  • Different Careers available
  • The likelihood of promotion is that career
  • The salaries paid
  • The qualifications needed

It is helpful to students as it tells them what careers will be in demand when they leave school and the type of skills needed for those careers.

LMI is important as it allows students to research about their chosen sector of employment. It will also give students an understanding of how that sector will grow. It will also give you an opportunity to better understand the career and sector of work.

How do students engage with LMI?

Students engage with LMI through the Personal Development Curriculum. Students have a direct teaching session in Year 9 on LMI and how it is useful in choosing a career pathway. LMI is also used to support delivery on the Additional Core curriculum and students are reminded of LMI data during Year 11 Induction Evening and Year 12/13 Career Events.
