Information for students: Year 10-11
Post 16 Pathways
Listed below is guidance on the different routes you may opt to apply for. Students should be applying for Level 3 courses.
A Levels
You may opt to carry on studying subjects you studied at GCSE or choose new subjects. You tend to study around 3-4 A Levels. A Levels tend to be studied at 6th Forms. They are studied over 2 years and is mostly assessed via exams at the end of the course. It can lead to university, college, higher and degree apprenticeship or work.
T Levels
You will be based at a college or 6th form and have some work placed placements for 45 days. One T Level is the equivalent of 3 A Levels. It is a 2-year course, with assessment based on exams, coursework and assignments. It can lead to university, college, higher and degree apprenticeship or work.
Vocational and Technical QualificationsThese subjects allow you to study for skills and practical knowledge needed for employment. They can prepare you for a range of employment opportunities such as Travel and Tourism, Catering and Beauty. These courses are usually studied at college.
Applied Qualifications (BTECs)
Qualifications that give you a range of sector-based skills for areas such as business, media, engineering, leisure and science. These subjects tend to be a blend of classroom-practice learning and developing some practical skills. It can lead to university, college, higher and degree apprenticeship or work.
ApprenticeshipsIntermediate, advance higher and degree apprenticeships combine practical workplace skills with learning. You will spend 80% of your time in the workplace and 20% with study at college or training provider. The course will be for a minimum of one year. It can lead to to work, higher level of apprenticeship and university study.

In order to apply for 6th Form or College, applications must be made through KentChoices.

You will need a login for KentChoices, this will be posted to you. You will need to complete your application including:
- Personal Details
- Predicted Grades (from your Progress Tracker)
- Statement for application.
